We specialize in treating entire families here at our Rider Dental. We care for all the needs of our patients, regardless of age.
We tailor our approach for each patient and that’s especially true for young children. We know that children can find dental offices rather scary and intimidating (even some adults feel this way!), fortunately this is not the case in our office. Our track record with children’s dentistry is very good and they’ve enjoyed their dental appointments whenever they’re here because we try our best to keep each visit free from unnecessary stress and worry.
When your child has a dental emergency, we can help as quickly as possible to alleviate the pain right away. That’s one of the main keys as to why children associate our office to positive experiences. When they’re not here, they experience things like toothaches. When they visit us, we make the toothache go away.
But that’s not all we do for your children’s oral health. We also help parents guide their children appropriately so that they can develop the best oral health habits while they’re young. When they can develop good habits of brushing their teeth, flossing, avoiding sugary smacks, and seeing their dentist regularly, they can maintain their dental health even as they become adults.
Finally, we help make sure that children associate their visits to dental offices as a positive experience.
It’s been our experience that children who are well-acquainted with dental offices when they’re still young tend to have good oral health in their adult years. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry strongly suggests that a visit to the dentist is warranted when the first tooth erupts. This first visit should be no later than when they’re 1 – 2 years old.
Are you thinking of bringing your toddler along to our office? We can help make sure that your child’s first visit will lead to many positive and enjoyable visits in the future. You can also do your part by telling them stories about your positive dental office experiences (no horror stories please).
So what can your child expect on their first visit? With Children’s Dentistry We will of course give a thorough checkup of their teeth, gums, and mouth. We will check if a fluoride treatment is needed at that point. We can also check if your child has picked up bad habits like drinking too much soda or thumb-sucking.
We can also teach your child how he or she can clean their teeth and gums properly, and we can show you how you can teach them at home about brushing and flossing their teeth. Finally, we will discuss a proper schedule for regular visits and checkups in the future.
